Just wondering what security checks there are when boarding trains and buses in Europe?
To be honest I'm worried about a bomb blast or something like that when I head over there this year.
Info on Croatia, England, Spain, Italy, Czech, Belgium, Greece, and Switzerland would be a great help as I'm heading to those countries.. Are they at every train station etc would ease my mind a lot.. Just very worried something may happen when I'm there. 😓 Thanks for help in advance.. Will choose best answer! 👍

I've never encountered any sort of security check on any European bus or train. I'm 59 and have been to over 20 European countries, including Croatia, England (I'm English but live in Wales), Spain, Italy, Czech, Belgium, Greece, and Switzerland at least once.

Travelled on trains and/or buses in all those countries last year and there we no checks except for in Spain, where before boarding trains (I'm pretty sure it happened at least once to me) we were required to put our bags through for security screening.

Even due to lack of security checks, I always felt very safe on them.

Also on random occasions police would come on the train and to see passports/visas, so make sure you're prepared for that!

As you have been told here and in your previous question, there are no security checks and no reason to conduct them. If there were everyone, commuters included, would need to be at the train/bus station 2 hours before each trip. The whole continent would come to a standstill if this happened!

BTW Are there passenger security checks at bus and train stations in your country?

I live in London, there is no security checks on trains or buses but there is security at stations and customers are incouraged to report suspicious behaviour, if that'll put your mind at ease

None, except the odd random customs check.

Zafir: Oh, but they do. Even deep inland your car, bus, truck, train can be stopped by customs officials. I regularly see trucks stopped at the side of the road nowhere near any border being checked by customs. Schengen just meant no more border controls, but there's still plenty of random checks inside the borders.

Generally no checks unless there is a specific threat (or you are a bit silly) The Paris/Brussels to London rail service has airline style security though

There are security checks on the Eurostar train from Belgium and France to the UK. Similar to the checks they do at international airports. But otherwise.... None.
