When I was in Iceland, I enjoyed going to the Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir area. Thingvellir is also interesting. It's were the first Parliament was started. You should also definitely go to the Blue Lagoon. Visit the Saga Museum: http://www.sagamuseum.is/ Eat at Perlan - the views from the revolving restaurant are very good. The Arbaer museum is also very good, in my opinion. It has restored buildings moved from various locations around the country and people in period costumes demonstrating what life might have been like. It's similar to the Kulturen in Lund, Sweden or the Outdoor Museum in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands - both also worth seeing if you're in those countries.

There are also whale-watching tours. I wished I had more time there than the 9 days I spent.

Take your camera and a lot of memory/film.

Your question is a bit vague, since I don't know what you like, but the following might help you decide. The general answer is yes.

You can split the experience into two parts: the people and the country itself.

Depending on where you come from, it's either expensive or very expensive. Everything is very clean, the people are very straightforward in their attitude and speak impeccable English (even the 5 year olds can give you directions). If you have a sense of adventure and some money, it's not hard to find someone to fly you around the country. They're very pround of the place.

The country itself has one great asset that stands out. It's water is great to drink, bathe in (the natural pools and their numerous outdoor hot pools) and to visit (there's loads of great rivers, lakes and waterfalls). There's also the geothermal stuff (geysirs, hot mud pools and all that). If you're into that, go south east from the capital (by car 2 hours, by plane...depends where you fly...).

How long you want to spend there depends on how much money you have and what you like doing,

cheers,

Daniel

Iceland is gorgeous and surprisingly green in the summer. 2 weeks will be just enough to spend a weekend in Reykjavik and do a tour around the island on the Ring Road. I would shoot for 20 days so that you can take your time, although Iceland is very expensive and those days add up.

Some highlights are:

1) Waterfalls

a) Gulfoss - the largest waterfall in Europe

b) Svartifoss (Black Falls)in Skaftafell National Park - an interesting waterfall surrounded by dark hexagonal lava columns.

c) Seljalandsfoss Waterfall - a beautiful waterfall that you can walk behind. It was featured in the Amazing Race.

d) Skogar Falls - a larger waterfall on the southern part of the island you can hike up.

2) Geothermal Areas:

a) The Blue Lagoon - probably the most famous attraction. It's a geothermal bath said to be able to cure skin diseases.

b) Mývatn Nature Baths - Similar to the Blue Lagoon but on the opposite (Northeastern) end of the island.

c) Namafjall Hverir geothermal area - you will think you're on Mars here!

Icy areas:

a) Svinafellsjokull (Svínafellsjökull) Glacier - a popular glacier to hike.

b) Jökulsár Lagoon Glacial Lake - right on the ring road on the Eastern end of the Island. You can watch icebergs as they make their way to the sea.

3) Towns, the 2 largest and most interesting IMO are:

a) Reykjavik - where everything happens. Be sure to check out the nightlife, it's phenomenal.

b) Akureyri - A quiet town up north, it has a nice tranquil feel to it.

certain and Kassiopi is a astounding position to stay in case your questioning the position. If I were to move again again i could stay in Corfu city because it really is steeped in heritage and is brilliant and the plants are magnificent and so are the fireflys ...a could see . Oh i favor to move now!. I also recommend that you employ unquestionably a form of small Suski Jeeps to get around the island even if you elect nerves of metallic tochronic on a number of the steeply cliffed roads...even if it is relaxing in case your up for it. visit WWW.CORFU.COM
