It's 16 [I'm Maltese so you can count on it], 16 is the legal age to get into clubs and buy drinks, however if your partner smokes he can't buy cigarettes, they're over 18. Hope you'll enjoy your stay ;)

I'm not sure about the age myself. And that's kind of stupid cause I live in Malta. All I know is that you need to be at least 17 to go into some of the pubs. But a lot of pubs don't ask for id cards, at least not always. And a large number of bars sell to practically anyone. I look younger than my age (people never think i'm over 15) but i only have to show an id card in a couple of clubs at paceville. For the rest they just sell you whatever you want as quickly as they can. So if you look your age you'll be ok. And alcohol sometimes spoils the fun so please just drink enough to have fun :)

Here in malta the drinking age is 16years. At least in bars and disco they let you in at the age of 16 so it should be 16 as in these places anyone can buy drinks.

18

EDIT: sorry its 16, i got mixed up. but i think that smoking is legal at 16 too.... i know people who are 16 and do smoke. in fact, on the wall of junior college, just outside the doors there's a sign saying that no smoking is tolerated beyond that point, so smoking is only allowed outside. and junior college is mostly attended by 16-18 year olds btw.

sorry for the mix up!
